In the most recent workshop held to support the development of Patient Partnership Groups (PPGs) in Hertfordshire and West Essex, the focus was how PPGs can support efforts to tackle health inequalities.

Kevin Hallahn, Health Inequalities Lead at NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) gave:

  • An overview of what health inequalities are
  • An explanation what Core20Plus5 is
  • A look at the work being carried out across Herts and West Essex to achieve health equity for all
  • Explored how patient groups can support this work.

You can download Kevin's slides.

Claire Uwins, PPG member at Much Hadham practice and an active volunteer, presented the work she and other volunteers have been doing to reduce health inequalities.

Claire mentioned a video that has been created about cost of living and where in East Hertfordshire to get help. You can view that here

This project has created resources to support patient groups that include setting up a PPG, supporting volunteers, and working in partnership, and more. All are free to download and use. To take a look visit the GP patient group project page on our website.
