Fundraise

As a registered charity the Patients Association relies on the generosity of its supporters and members to be able to continue listening to patients and speaking up for change.

There are lots of ways to get involved in fundraising to support our work.

Sporting events

What better way could there be to help yourself and your fellow patients than by running, cycling, walking or climbing your way to fitness and a fantastic fundraising total?  In 2018 for the first time the Patients Association will be entering a team into the Great North Run - a hugely popular half marathon which takes place in Newcastle in September.

If you've not been lucky enough to get a place in the ballot, get in touch with us to secure one of our 'Team Patients' places.

Registration fee:  £40

Sponsorship target: £350

We are also pleased to welcome to our team any runner with their own place in the Great North Run, Virgin London Marathon or any other event.

Find out more about the Great North Run and how to get involved on our events page

Take on a challenge

If running half a marathon doesn't appeal to you, how about abseiling, trekking or skydiving?  You can take on any number of sponsored challenges to raise money for the Patients Association.

Find out about the open challenges available from the Charity Challenge website.

Host an event

Looking for something with a more relaxed pace?  How about hosting a coffee morning, or selling some delicious (and maybe low sugar) cakes.  You can use the event to tell your friends and neighbours about the support available to everyone through our helpline, or about the latest health or social care campaign that has peaked your interest.

Give something up

Whatever your vice, how about being sponsored to give it up? Can you go screen-free for a whole weekend?  Or quit sugar for a month? Raising money can help you feel good and keep you going when it's feeling tough.  You can set up your fundraising page here and get started right away.  Or contact us for a more traditional sponsorship form.

The patient voice: The secret weapon against superbugs

Last year, we held an advisory board with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer to discuss how patients could be more involved in the fight against superbugs. Highlights from the meeting are now available. They include suggestions on how important patient partnership is when treating patients with serious infections and the need to look at the threat of superbugs from the patient’s point of view.
