Christmas, as the old classic goes, is ‘the most wonderful time of the year’.

And while the festive season is a time for many to unwind and spend time with loved ones, it’s not a wonderful period for the health service, or the many patients needing advice, treatment or care.

It is widely acknowledged that the winter of 2017/18 saw the NHS experience extreme – and possibly unprecedented – pressures, and we are facing another challenging few months ahead for the health service. With people feeling the effects of a health service under increasing pressure, there has never been a more important time for the Patients Association to act for patients, and to support those who contact us feeling helpless or overwhelmed.

To meet the demand for our help from patients… we need your help.

We are a proudly independent organisation. We don’t receive any core funding from government, and while we work tirelessly to influence health policy and effect change, we need your help to strengthen our work and expand the range of services we offer to the public.

Over the last year, we’ve answered more than 3,000 calls for help, and supported thousands more who have accessed our advice and information resources online.

Without the helpline, people needing advice and reassurance could have nobody to turn to.

Your donation - whatever the amount - means we can give information and reassurance to patients and their families, helping them to have the confidence to take the next steps.

Many thanks for your help; I did exactly as what you had advised me to do. We are very happy that our mum will be coming back home."
