People living in deprived areas experience the most significant health inequalities in terms of access, experience and outcomes.

Engaging with people living in those communities is critical if they are to benefit from health services and for providers of services to understand the community's experiences and needs.

Core20PLUS5 is NHS England’s approach to reducing health inequalities. The NHS England Health Inequalities Toolkit is aimed at people working in deprived communities, to support their communications and engagement efforts.

Dr Bola Owolabi, Director of Health Inequalities at NHS England, has kindly allowed the Patients Association to make the toolkit available through our website for anyone who might find it useful in their work. Dr Owolabi leads the Core20PLUS5 work.

The toolkit focuses on the 20% most deprived areas of England and is aimed at anyone who communicates with or is looking to engage with people who are part of these communities.

If you download and load the toolkit, we'd love to hear about your projects and the toolkit helped. Let us know by emailing [email protected].
