Vacancy: Community and Patient Engagement Manager Community and Patient Engagement Manager Salary: £36,000 FTE Contract: Up to six months contract, with possibility of extension. Full or part-time considered The role We represent patients across the UK and we need your help to reach people in every corner of the country. This is an exciting new role for the organisation and it’s like a blank canvas in a way: you’ll have the opportunity to express yourself and put forward new ideas to help us raise awareness of our work, increase membership, and meet our strategic aims. In your day-to-day work, you’ll work with our CEO and senior leadership team to develop and deliver a new volunteering and engagement strategy that seeks to reach and engage people nationwide. This will include a volunteering programme in order to develop a national network of volunteers to meet the Patients Association’s needs, and work to mobilise our supporters to take campaigning actions. Being confident and adept at communicating with people is crucial to this role – you’ll be working on the ground with patients and community groups to learn about the health issues that are important to them, and to support them to improve their health outcomes. We’re looking for someone who can lead on the coordination and delivery of engagement events, so our strategy can be better informed by people across the country. Main duties and responsibilities Work with the CEO and the leadership team to design and implement a volunteering programme to develop a national network of volunteers to meet the organisation’s needs, including roles to complement our paid staff, mobilising our supporters to take campaigning actions, and community fundraising Identify, develop and implement strategies for engaging with patient groups and community groups to learn about their issues and to support them to improve their own health outcomes Working with the Head of Policy, lead on the coordination and delivery of engagement events to ensure patient voices contribute to our organisational strategy, and a programme to involve members and supporters in campaigning actions Support the Head of Income Generation, Communications and Marketing Manager and Volunteer Membership Secretary in the recruitment and retention of individual members. General Responsibilities Co-operate with all staff in maintaining good relationships with outside agencies and the general public in order to uphold the charity's image and win increased support for its work Maintain confidentiality in all areas of work Ensure that your conduct does not conflict with professional expectations Actively support and promote the Patients Association’s values Co-operate with all staff in maintaining harmonious inter-personal relationships Ensure an awareness and observation of fire and health and safety regulations Participate in regular supervision sessions with your line manager Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by your line manager or his or her higher level of authority.
