What we have to say Latest news Charity partnership with Health Plus Care The Patients Association has teamed up with Health Plus Care, Europe's largest integrated health and social care event, to become its official charity partner for the first time. As a national charity which began campaigning on patients' rights in response to events concerning the drug thalidomide in the 1960's, the Patients Association celebrates 55 years of speaking up for patients as the NHS turns 70 this year. Announcing the news this week, Rachel Power, Chief Executive of the Patients Association, said: "I'm thrilled to be announcing our role as official charity partner for Health Plus Care, offering a unique opportunity to bring patients face to face with decision makers in health and social care. "It is more important that ever to ensure that the patient perspective is part of the conversation as commissioners, providers and suppliers come together to discuss what's next for the NHS and social care services." (@PatientsAssoc) 3 April 2018 Patients Association Chair Lucy Watson will be part of a panel discussion on patient safety as the question of 'how do we protect patients in a pressurised NHS?' becomes a critical issue with the workforce under unprecedented operational and financial pressure. Lucy Pitt, Marketing Director at Health Plus Care said: "We are delighted to be working together with the Patients Association, the work they carry out is remarkable and its profile fits perfectly to be Health Plus Care’s official charity partner. Long may it continue." The event takes place on 27-28th June at the ExCel in London.
