The latest coronavirus figures for the UK are: 64,621 people have been tested, of whom 3,269 were positive; 144 people are known to have died.

Allocation of COVID-19 fund

At the Budget, the Chancellor announced a £5 billion fund for health and care services, to help combat coronavirus. It was announced today that £1.6 billion will go to local authorities to bolster social care provision, and £1.3 billion will be used to discharge people from hospital more quickly who do not need further treatment. The Government says it expects this to free up 15,000 hospital beds.
