How to spot the signs and what to expect from treatment

What is malnutrition?

Malnutrition is a physical condition that occurs when the body is not getting enough calories and other nutrients to keep it healthy. Malnutrition can be the result of poor diet but it can also be the result of disease or illness which may cause a person to lose their appetite or may mean their body is not being able to absorb all the nutrients that they need.

Malnutrition can affect both physical and mental health and can slow recovery from illness. However, if recognised, malnutrition can be treated.
