Katherine Murphy

Patients Association Director, Katherine Murphy

 

 

Katherine joined the Patients Association in 2003 as Head of Communications having come from a background in Nursing and Health Service Management. She was appointed Director in 2008. As Director Katherine has been at the forefront of most of the recent campaigns at the Patients Association, notably managing the highly successful 2005 Clean Hospital Summit and 2006 Cleaner Hospitals, Safer Healthcare Summit. She has also initiated a number of other high profile campaigns that have figured largely in the media including:

 

 

• Patient engagement and Involvement
• Mixed-sex Wards
• Patients’ Rights
• Access to Services and Treatments
• Dentistry
• Dignity and Compassionate
• NHS Complaints

 

 

During her time with the Patients Association Katherine has worked with the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA), Care quality Commission, Cabinet Office, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), Royal College of Nursing , Nursing and Midwifery Council and all of the Royal Colleges. Katherine is responsible for all public relations and fundraising and for developing and promoting the work of the Patients Association policy as well as setting the strategic direction for the organisation.

 

Katherine sits on many Committees and Boards always representing the views of the patients.
