Swine Flu

The Patients Association recognises that people will be concerned about the cases of what is being commonly described as swine flu in the media.

We feel it important to point out that in this country at least, the people who have contracted the virus are small in number and many who have been under investigation have ultimately proved negative.

The Department of Health has advised that where people feel unwell and suspect they may have become infected they should contact their GP or NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.

You can also visit the following NHS Direct website for helpful advice if you are concerned:

Anti-viral drugs are available in this country and would be widely distributed as and when required which should be reassuring for everyone.
