Pauline trained as a general nurse in Birmingham and decided to specialise in Theatres mainly working in Trauma and Orthopaedics and eventually becoming Theatre Manager. Her next posts were in  the private sector working as Matron in two Nuffield Hospitals and her last position was as manager in a Royal British Legion Care Home looking after ex-service people.

Throughout her working life she has been interested in giving good care now she is am semi- retired and working with the Patients Association it enables her to continue with this.
