Helpline Adviser
Sarah graduated from the University of Chester in 2011 after studying English Literature and Journalism. In order to gain more professional work experience, Sarah has spent the last six months working for Edward Timpson, MP for Crewe and Nantwich, in her native Cheshire. Working in an MP’s busy constituency office enabled Sarah to develop her skills as a caseworker and adviser, assisting constituents with local and central government issues – which also involved processing local NHS complaints. Despite her journalistic background (Sarah has written for Cheshire Life and developed her own magazine whilst studying at university – now used as a template for other students), she enjoyed processing casework and offering key advice to constituents so much she was eager to pursue a career working for as a Helpline Adviser for The Patients Association. Due to her own personal experiences, such as having two elderly grandparents who suffered from dementia go through the adult social care and NHS system, Sarah is able to provide callers with sympathetic advice and guidance in relation to their medical concerns. She also hopes to be able to employ her writing skills and help the Patients Association develop their brochures, amongst many other associated tasks.
