A Guide to Living Wills

There is a lack of clarity over who can, legally, advise the medical team on decisions about your wishes concerning treatment, especially for cohabitees and single sex couples. A living will could be used to nominate another person (sometimes referred to as a health-care proxy), to act on your behalf in deciding what medical treatments are appropriate.
